JUST DO IT!

Today has been wonderful day. Once again the great Marathi saint Tukaram’s quote (For those of you who don’t know. English translation goes like “If You do it, it happens. First do it”) proved right.

After many hesitations and apprehensions, I could make decision to do it. I consider personally it is great adventure. Just after out of driving school and few moments with Mitsubishi van at Auckland, I had no confidence and experience of driving 4 wheeler to venture such exercise.

I woke early hours of breezy morning at 6:00am, in Chennai with many hesitations to go to Madhavaram (which is 12KM north of Koyamvidu, North Chennai, which itself is 17 km from my apartment) in East coast Road bus. I was supposed to fetch maruthi zen car of my friend Aniruddha Chattarjee which was transported from Delhi. I was praying Lord Ganesha and my favorite Lord Krishna throughout my way to the place to make my adventure possible and successful and trouble free as I was venturing with someone else car. After couple of hassles with auto guys (Chennai auto guys are famous for cheating everyone, suckers) I made it to my destination. In his messy office, Mr. Tambi (as I don't know his name), transport business owner was scribbling his pay-in slips to deposit his half dozen cheques, where I was told to wait. After couple of calls with someone & verifying address and company ID card he made up his mind to handover me car and car keys. I verified the car and it’s status as per papers. I started driving with lessons whatever I could recall from my of driving school more than 3 years back and my trivial experience of trying Mitsubishi van at Auckland 2 years back. I started from extreme north end of Chennai to my apartment at the south end of Chennai. Fortunately my discussion with colleagues the earlier day & my own thoughful prepartions helped me to take precautions of checking petrol and checking out my body language to handle traffic cops stares etc. With few hiccups like missing route 2 times and inexperience in handling clutches, gears & breaks of 4 wheeler, I finally made it to my apartment. First thing I did was to thank Lord for his grace on me to make decision and giving courage and confidence to complish this task completely and successfully.

Also helped was previous night reading of book called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho to build up my confidence and courage. As he said in the book, “When you want something, all
the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”.
